Fire Prompts Evacuation At Metro Subway Station
A fire at a Metro subway station Tuesday afternoon halted trains and prompted an evacuation.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An electrical fire at a Metro station prompted the halting of B (Red) Line trains in an out of the station on Tuesday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of "light smoke" at the Westlake/MacArthur Park station just after 1 p.m.
"Trains into and out of station have been stopped. The train station has been evacuated out of precaution," the LAFD's Jennifer Middleton wrote.

Crews determined the source of the smoke was a "small electrical fire" in an electrical cabinet and extinguished the blaze.
No injuries were reported.

About 45 minutes later, authorities responded to similar reports — light white smoke on the concourse level — at the under-construction Wilshire/La Brea D Line station.
"Fire was located in an electrical room and immediately extinguished. Firefighters are actively ventilating the location. No trains or services are compromised due to this location being under construction," Middleton wrote.
No injuries were reported at that station.
