  1. There was a structure fire on Monday morning around 11:27 a.m. The LAFD responded to the 11500 block of West Kittridge Street. They “found two detached structures on fire at the rear of the property.” It took 28 firefighters 17 minutes to knock down the blaze. (Flickr)
  2. Khalil Mack is now a Los Angeles Charger. We learned Wednesday that he is coming from the Chicago Bears. “The trade for Mack was part of an aggressive makeover of the team's defense by General manager Tom Telesco.” (NBC)
  3. Who is investing heavily in the L.A. restaurant scene right around Hollywood? According to a Wednesday report, “a lot of the recent development there is thanks to the federal EB-5 program that allows investors from other countries to put $500,000 into individual projects that create local jobs, with those investors earning a United States visa as a result.” The Relevant Group, which is a frequently-mentioned real estate firm in the area, “reportedly pulled in north of $200 million from over 400 Chinese investors for multiple hotels.” (L.A. Eater)
  4. Silver Lake and Echo Park have been dealing with a one-man crime wave. “The suspect has been caught on home security videos again and again, prowling around property and casing houses, stealing packages from mail boxes, and even making off with a car, the police have been stymied in their attempts to capture the relentless menace.” The LAPD’s Northeast Division states that “they’ve identified a suspect, although there’s still more work to do before the man can be brought up on charges.” (L.A. Mag)
  5. Heads up! If you are heading down Riverside Drive, plan on extra time. We learned Wednesday that, “following the street resurfacing, LADOT is repainting the area and installing new features, including upgraded crosswalks and new bicycle lanes in both directions.” (@LADOTofficial)
