Firefighters Battle Second-Alarm Blaze At Vernon Commercial Building

The fire quickly went to a second alarm, with the fire department summoning additional crews to the scene.

VERNON, CA — Fire ripped through a commercial building in Vernon Thursday, sending thick black smoke into the air, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.

Firefighters, dispatched at approximately 10:30 a.m. to the fire at South Soto Street and East Vernon Avenue, had the blaze out at approximately 11:15 am., the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

ABC7 reported the fire was in a former Farmer John meat facility, which was being demolished.
