Fleeing Driver Crash Lands On Roof Of Culver City Home

The driver of a Dodge Durango lost control of the SUV as it exited at Culver Boulevard, careened into the guardrail and landed on a home.

CULVER CITY, CA — The investigation is continuing Sunday after a suspect fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers slammed into a freeway guardrail before crashing into the roof of a Culver City home, authorities said Sunday.

It occurred at 9:41 p.m. Saturday on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Culver Boulevard and left overnight traffic snarled for hours.

The driver of a Dodge Durango lost control of the vehicle as it exited at Culver Boulevard, careened into the guardrail and landed on the roof of a home near the 4200 block of Sawtelle Boulevard, according to the CHP and media reports.

The home sustained major damage to its living room but no injuries were reported, CHP officers said.

The unidentified driver was taken into custody and officers said they found a handgun near the crumpled Durango. It was unclear whether the person was injured.

Authorities said the driver was being sought for driving on the right shoulder of the freeway.

A SigAlert was in place for several hours while the investigation continued.
