French Bulldog, Snatched From LA Restaurant, Remains Missing Even After Arrest

A woman has been arrested in connection to the theft of a French bulldog, but the dog remains missing, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The search is continuing for a French bulldog stolen while its owner was eating at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant patio, even though a 21-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to the theft.

The woman, Sadie Slater of Los Angeles, was arrested Friday in Inglewood on suspicion of robbery and was being held on $70,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Slater is suspected of stealing a French bulldog named Onyx from its owner while the owner ate on the patio of a diner on the 800 block of South Grand Avenue on Jan. 18 at around 3:45 p.m., police said.

"A female suspect picked up the victim's dog and fled," police said in a statement. "The victim chased after the suspect as she entered a white four-door sedan, which was driven by an additional suspect."

The second suspect is described as a man in his 20s; the getaway vehicle was a white four-door Kia Forte, police said.

Slater was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department's Gang and Narcotics Division with assistance from the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force, according to the LAPD.
