Family Dogs Kill Girl, 5, In Her LA County Backyard
A girl died after she was attacked by her two dogs at her home in an LA County gated community on Sunday.
COVINA, CA — A 5-year-old girl died after she was attacked by her family dogs at her home in a Covina gated community on Sunday, according to deputies.
The attack occurred at around noon Sunday on the 2500 block of Palomino Drive. The girl's father told deputies the girl was walking behind him in the back yard; he soon realized the two dogs were attacking her. He jumped on his daughter to protect her, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Steven De Jong.
"The child had been around the dogs her entire life," De Jong said.

Paramedics transported the girl to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:23 p.m., ABC 7 reported.
The dogs, a 10-year-old Rottweiler and a 6-year-old Rottweiler-Weimaraner mix, were removed from the house, along with two other dogs that lived at the home, according to De Jong.

Detectives were investigating the death as "a very unfortunate, tragic accident," De Jong said.
