Grab Your Sunscreen, The UV Index Will Hit 10 On Wednesday
The high index reading means a fair-skinned person would get burned within four minutes of sun exposure without any protection.
LOS ANGELES, CA — It's time for Angelenos to break out the sunscreen, because Wednesday's ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area will be 10, according to the National Weather Service.
The very high exposure level reading of 10, or greater, means a fair- skinned person could suffer a sunburn in about four minutes if not protected.
The reading indicates what the UV exposure is expected to be at noon, when the sun's rays are at their strongest.

Los Angeles is expected to see a high of 77 degrees with some clouds and a 0 percent chance of rain, according to AccuWeather. It will be a long day of sun exposure given the sun won't set until just before 8 p.m.
Coastal areas will see slightly lower temperatures but similarly extreme UV index levels, while the San Fernando Valley climbs up close to 90 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

The UV index will remain extremely high throughout the next week.
Ultraviolet radiation is blamed for a host of health problems, including skin cancer and cataracts.
