Juan Hernandez Search Enters Second Week, Family Starts GoFundMe

LOS ANGELES, CA — The search for 21-year-old Juan Hernandez has entered its second week and the family is doing everything they can to bring him home. Juan has been missing since Tuesday night near Western Avenue and 81st Street after leaving work at 10 p.m.

On Thursday, Juan's car was discovered abandoned near Figueroa Street and 64th Street. Onlookers said the car had been idling for hours without anyone inside.

Juan is a 6'2", 215 lb Latino man with black hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, white shorts and black Vans.

Over the weekend, residents reported seeing someone who resembled Juan Hernandez near Figueroa Street between 53rd Street and 64th Street.

The family started a GoFundMe Monday night to help offset search expenses and provide support for the family.

"Many of us have stopped working or taken unpaid leave from jobs to support one another in the search for Juan," the family wrote. "We are asking volunteers to bring their own flyers/supplies or paying for thousands of flyers to be printed ourselves. We are asking for help in offsetting the accumulating costs of continuing to search for Juan."

Family members encourage people to call political leaders in Los Angeles and urge them to take action using this script. People in the area who can help put up fliers are encouraged to join this Facebook group as a hub for the search.
