The 56-year-old man arrested on charges of murdering his former neighbor, "King of the Hill" star Jonathan Joss, "immediately" confessed to the crime after the Sunday shooting, according to reports.

Joss, 59, was shot and killed outside his recently burned-down home in Texas on Sunday night, according to police. The neighbor, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, was arrested and charged with murder shortly after, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Alvarez was detained at the scene. Police later wrote in their report that he "immediately told them, 'I shot him,'" the Daily Beast reported.

In a post on Joss' Facebook account, his partner, Tristan Kern de Gonzales described the attack as a culmination of homophobic harassment they've suffered for years.

He said the shooting occurred outside the couple's former home, which had burned down in January in a fire that killed their three dogs.

When the couple arrived at the property on Sunday to check their mail, they found "the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view," Gonzales wrote.

"This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw," Gonzales continued. "While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired."

Police initially said there was no evidence connecting Joss' sexual orientation to his murder. But San Antonio Police Chief William McManus on Thursday called the earlier statement “premature.” He confirmed that investigators are now considering whether homophobia played a role, KTLA reported.

Joss voiced John Redcorn from seasons 2-13 of “King of the Hill," taking over from original actor Victor Aaron after he died in 1996 in a car accident.

Joss recorded lines for the upcoming revival and is set to be heard in Episode 2, Variety reported.

Joss, who was of Apache and Comanche descent, also played Chief Ken Hotate in “Parks and Recreation" and appeared in “Ray Donovan,” “Tulsa King” and “The Magnificent Seven," the Times reported.
