LA County Teacher Arrested For Child Molestation May Have Victimized Other Kids: Police

A teacher who worked in schools across LA County has been arrested on 11 child sex-crime charges, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police are searching for additional victims of a Los Angeles county educator who was arrested earlier this month on 11 child sex-crime charges dating back nearly a decade, according to authorities.

The suspect, Andrew Louie Sandoval, 27, has worked as a substitute teacher and teacher's aide in several LA County schools, according to the South Gate Police Department, which arrested him July 25.

Sandoval faces the following felony charges, according to court records obtained by Patch:

  • Seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, all with special allegations he committed the crimes under aggravating circumstances. Sandoval is accused of committing four of the acts in November 2015 and three in January 2024.
  • One count of sexual intercourse or sodomy with child 10 years old or younger, stemming from a November 2015 incident
  • Two counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration with child 10 years old or younger, stemming from incidents in November 2015 and January 2024
  • One count of child pornography possession, stemming from July 2024

Authorities have not specified the nature of Sandoval's relationship with the victims, nor which schools in LA County he worked at. Patch has reached out to the LA County District Attorney's office for more information about the accusations against Sandoval.

"Detectives from the South Gate Police Department are releasing the suspect's booking photo because we believe there may be additional victims of unreported sexual assaults, and we are asking that anyone who may have been victimized by Sandoval contact the South Gate Police Department," police said in a release.

Sandoval is behind held on $7.05 million bail. He's due to be arraigned on Aug. 13, according to court records.
