LA Galaxy II Coronavirus Outbreak Postpones Third Straight Game

The move comes after 11 players on the Galaxy II tested positive for the coronavirus.

CARSON, CA — An August 12 soccer match between the LA Galaxy II and Phoenix Rising FC has been postponed due to the Galaxy II's coronavirus outbreak. It's the third straight game to be rescheduled after 11 "covered persons" on the team tested positive for the virus on July 28.

The league says the game was postponed out of an "abundance of caution." The same reason was given when the league postponed matchups against San Diego Loyal SC and Orange County SC. Recent Galaxy II opponents have also seen their games rescheduled, such as a July 29 matchup between Republic FC and Orange County SC.

USL requires all covered persons to undergo weekly testing. Expecting that outbreaks would require games to be moved, the soccer league created their schedule with "flexibility" according to LA Times.
