LA Man Suspected Of Randomly Beating Elderly Woman Arrested

A man is suspected of viciously beating a woman in her mid 80s in a random attack on a downtown LA street that horrified the community.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The man suspected in the attack of a woman in her mid-80s in Koreatown was arrested Tuesday.

Richard Colomo, 41, of Los Angeles, was arrested about 1 p.m. on suspicion of felony battery, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division. It wasn't immediately clear whether Colomo turned himself in.

Colomo was booked at 3:30 p.m. and was being held in lieu of $105,000 bail, Lopez said.

The victim, who suffered severe facial injuries, said all she remembers is the man walking beside her and then hitting her before she woke up, her granddaughter, Yujin Ko, told ABC7.

"Her eyes are black and blue, her forehead is black and blue. She got a lot of stitches on her scalp, so she's bandaged up," Ko said.

The suspect hit her for no apparent reason, Ko said.

"Luckily, a lot of people were there to help her," Ko added. "The paramedics came, the ambulance came, and the police came."
