LA Woman Missing In Guatemala: Last Person to See Her Speaks Out
A San Bernardino County public defender who attended the same retreat as Nancy Ng, an LA area woman who went missing, is now speaking out.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA -- Christina Blazek, a San Bernardino County public defender, who attended the same retreat in Guatemala as Nancy Ng, a Monterey Park woman who went missing, has issued a statement through her attorney regarding Ng's disappearance.
Ng, 29, hasn't been seen since Oct. 19 when she left on a kayak excursion with a yoga group on Guatemala's Lake Atitlán.
In a statement, Blazek's attorney said that the two women did not know each other and only happened to meet on the lake. While on the lake, according to Blazek's attorney, the two women chatted and then Ng said she was going for a swim.

Because it was rough on the water and there was a strong current, Blazek tried to talk Ng out of it, but was unsuccessful, according to Blazek's lawyer, G. Christopher Gardner.
According to Blazek, Ng went into the water and in the process pushed her kayak away, which Blazek then tried to retrieve.

"(Blazek) kept one leg in her kayak and one leg in the other kayak and tried to get back to her ... and got close to her," Gardner explained. "And then apparently, she lost the kayak again and she turned around to go back to get the kayak again, and when she turned back around, Ms. Ng was gone."
Gardner says Blazek went for help and a distress call was sent out.
"She was told she needed to talk to the police, and she went and gave a full statement to Guatemalan police," Gardner said. "They told her there was nothing that could be done. Apparently that lake is known for having people drown."
Ng's family said this is the first time they've heard Blazek's account of events and have previously tried multiple times to reach Blazek. Blazek's attorney says his client was traumatized by the experience and needed time.
The Ng family has set up a GoFundMe account to receive donations to hire a search team to find their loved one. As of this writing, it has raised nearly $86,000 of its $100,000 goal: https://www.gofundme.com/f/hel...
