LAPD Interim Chief Named As Michel Moore Readies To Step Down
The Los Angeles Police Department will have an interim chief when Chief Michel Moore retires at the end of the month.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Dominic Choi will serve as interim chief when Chief Michel Moore retires at the end of the month, city officials said.
The Los Angeles Police Commission on Wednesday appointed Choi to the interim top cop job. He'll take over from Moore on a temporary basis when Moore leaves the force at the end of February.
A 40-year veteran of the department, Moore was appointed last year to serve a second five-year term leading the agency, but he made it clear he did not intend to serve the entirety of that term, saying the LAPD should have fresh leadership well ahead of the city playing host to major events such as the 2028 Olympic Games and the 2026 World Cup.
