🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? New Poll!
We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. Talk to ten different neighbors, and you get ten different opinions. What do you think?
📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) LAUSD Hacking Update: On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that the party thought to be responsible for the cyberattack on its systems has sent a ransom demand. The District neither revealed the amount of money they are asked to pay nor the identity of the people making the demand. Scuttlebutt “linked the attack to a cybercriminal syndicate known as the Vice Society.” Since it appears that the LAUSD computers are up and running, some wonder if “the hackers obtained or could potentially obtain more sensitive information.” (Patch)
2) The LAFD is trying out its first all-electric fire engine. The FD explained on Tuesday that the fire engine is now serving Hollywood and firefighters will evaluate the positives and negatives. “We imagine some [firefighters] were very attached to horses 100 years ago,” an official quipped. (Los Angeles Fire Department)
3) Three L.A. area restaurants have caught the attention of the New York Times. We learned on Wednesday that the publication compiled a list of “the 50 best restaurants in the country.” Locally, they are Anajak Thai at 14704 Ventura Boulevard, Here’s Looking at You at 3901 West 6th Street, and Kato at 777 South Alameda Street. (KTLA)
4) You have an opportunity to get involved with the LA River Path project. Metro will host two community meetings that “provide an update on the project’s environmental review process and path design considerations.” The first one is virtual and takes place on September 29 at 6 p.m. The second one is on October 1 at 10 a.m., and it is virtual as well as in-person. (Metro)
5) Mark your calendars, the Haunted Hayride is opening on Friday! The infamous Witch of the Woods has transformed Griffith Park into Midnight Falls. Head on down to 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, but choose your companions wisely. Organizers say that the attractions might be a little too intense for kids under 12. (Los Angeles Haunted Hayride)
