Los Angeles International Airport recorded a temperature of 86 degrees Monday, setting a new record.
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles saw record heat over the weekend.
Los Angeles International Airport recorded a temperature of 86 degrees Sunday, breaking the previous daily record of 85 degrees set two years ago, the National Weather Service tweeted Sunday night.
The heat was expected to continue into Monday before the region sees cooler temperatures Tuesday. Los Angeles could see temperatures reach a high of 89 degrees Monday before cooling to a high of 80 degrees Tuesday, the weather service said.

Temperatures at the airport were expected to reach 83 degrees, he said. The record for April 25 is 84 degrees, “so that one is possibly in play,” he told the newspaper.

The record-breaking warmth comes after record-breaking high temperatures were recorded earlier this month in Long Beach (101 degrees), Camarillo (99 degrees), Oxnard (98 degrees) and Santa Barbara (90 degrees).
During the first week of spring, Burbank broke a 69-year-old heat record when temperatures reached 89 degrees. LAX tied its 2008 record with a high of 84 degrees.
The highest-ever temperature recorded in Los Angeles County was Sept. 6, 2020, in Woodland Hills, when a sweltering heat wave soared temperatures to 120 degrees.
