Man, 19, Drowned In Lake Outside SoFi Stadium During Concert: Police
The man went for a swim in the 15-foot-deep lake and failed to resurface, police said.

INGLEWOOD, CA — A 19-year-old man died Saturday after drowning in the lake outside SoFi Stadium during a concert, according to authorities.
Police officers assigned to the concert saw the man enter the lake and begin swimming at around 9:27 p.m. Officers saw him go underwater and he did not resurface, prompting a search and rescue operation with divers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and county fire lifeguards with helicopter and drone support, according to the Inglewood Police Department.
The man's body was recovered from the lake just before 11 p.m. First responders unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The man's identity has not been made public.
The man-made lake, known as Rivers Lake, was created to harvest rainwater to be used for irrigation around the stadium. The six-acre lake is about 15 feet deep, according to the stadium.

The drowning occurred during a sold-out electronic music concert headlined by the DJ and musician Illenium.
The drowning comes after a similar incident in 2022, when rescuers pulled a body out of the lake after reports that someone had jumped into the water but failed to come out.
