Man Found Dead Near Site Of Downtown LA Looting

A man was found dead early Tuesday morning in an area that has been the site of recent protests, looting and vandalism.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man was found dead on the sidewalk early Tuesday morning in an area of downtown Los Angeles that has been the site of recent protests, looting and vandalism.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to Broadway just west of 3rd Street, where they found the victim lying on the sidewalk, according to the LAPD.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Video aired by KTLA showed investigators at the scene next to the man, who was lying on his back wearing a red sweatshirt.

The investigation is ongoing and it remains unclear how the man died and whether his death was related to ongoing unrest in downtown LA.

A T-Mobile store at the intersection where the man's body was found was one of several businesses looted the night before, KTLA reported. Similar activity occurred in parts of downtown overnight into Tuesday morning.
