Police Say Missing 'Gossip Girl' Actress Found Safe
Though her family said she disappeared without a trace, police located the 36-year-old Playa Vista woman in another state.
LOS ANGELES, CA — An actress from the television show "Gossip Girl" has been found safe in Texas after going missing from her Playa Vista home, the Los Angeles Police Department said Wednesday. However, a cousin of actress Chanel Maya Banks disputed the police account, saying Banks was still missing.
That appeared to prompt the actress to take to social media to reassure people she was safe Wednesday.
Nevertheless, Banks' cousin, insisting the actress was not found safe, has established a GoFundMe page, raising funds to help find her.

Banks' cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, wrote that Banks uncharacteristically left all her belongings and her dog in her Playa Vista apartment. She wrote that Banks' husband was not being cooperative in efforts to find the actress.
"We asked him where is Chanel, and all he continues to say is “she does not want to be found, she will reach out when she’s ready.” He claims he does not know where she is, he says he hasn’t seen or heard from her since November 7, but never called police to say she’s gone," Singh wrote. "I’m creating this go fund me because we need to hire a private investigator."

According to the LAPD, authorities in Texas confirmed that Banks had been found safe.
Earlier this week, Banks' family went public with the actress' disappearance, asking for help finding her and returning her home safely. The actress, who also appeared in "Blue Bloods” and “Twelve,” went missing two weeks ago, KTLA reported.
As it turns out, she was located on Nov. 11 in the state of Texas, and no foul play was suspected, LAPD Officer David Cuellar told Patch.
Police offered no additional details about how Banks ended up in another state without word to friends and loved ones.
Banks' family said family from all over the country arrived in Los Angeles to look for the actress in fear that something had happened to her.
"Chanel has no family or friends here and would NEVER go somewhere without telling her mom," Singh wrote. "Please help us find my cousin."
