LOS ANGELES, CA — Police are investigating the death of a newborn baby found on a sidewalk in the Downtown Skid Row area. Police suspect he was dropped from a fourth-floor window Thursday, according to multiple reports.

The baby was found around 5:30 a.m. in the area of San Pedro and Sixth streets in the Skid Row area outside the Weingart Center homeless services facility, according to the Los Angeles Police Department said. Custodians cleaning outside the building found the baby on the sidewalk, KNX News reported.

Bystanders were seen performing CPR on the newborn, but the baby died at the scene, ABC7 reported.

Three hours earlier, a woman was rushed by paramedics from the location to a nearby hospital due to pelvic bleeding, The Los Angeles Times reported. She was detained by police but released pending further investigation.
