  1. The most expensive home in America has sold. We learned Sunday that Fashion Nova CEO Richard Saghian is the new owner of the Bel Air mansion nicknamed “The One.” He may have gotten it for a steal because its price was far below the anticipated $190 million. “Once auction costs and commissions have been added, the purchase will hit approximately $141 million, which is still a considerable drop from the $295 million asking price prior to the auction.” (CBS)
  2. A new carrier is coming to LAX! Breeze Airways will offer “direct flights to Providence, Rhode Island, Norfolk, Virginia and Savannah, Georgia.” The service is expected to begin in June. Also, it “will begin operations out of the Tom Bradley International Terminal to pilot a new technologically driven check-in process without the use of a ticket counter.” (NBC)
  3. Pot may be legal, but the black market is booming. We learned Tuesday that the L.A. Cannabis Task Force “seized 257,732 pounds of cannabis and $2,127,112 in 2021.” So far, 300 unlicensed shops have been closed down. “The city went from having over 300 unlicensed retail commercial cannabis businesses in 2018 to 87 now.” (My News LA)
  4. The LAPD announced Tuesday that it had “fired three employees and is in the process of terminating seven more for violating the city's COVID-19 vaccinate mandate.” The affected employees “failed to get vaccinated or receive a religious or medical exemption.” It is noteworthy that this action took place even though the city is considering a repeal of its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. 5. The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a “resolution condemning the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin in waging war against Ukraine.” City Council officials explained that it’s important to support L.A.’s Russian community. “They are not responsible for the actions of an out-of-control madman,” said Councilmember Paul Koretz.
