📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) On Tuesday morning, there was a small but noisy protest outside City Hall. Police officers in riot gear responded to reports of a group of 50 people chanting, “no resignations, no meeting.” There were no incidents. (Subscription/The San Diego Union-Tribune)

2) Did you notice the gorgeous mural at 7753 Melrose Avenue? It depicts Mahsa Amini, who was killed in Iran. We learned on Tuesday that the artists behind this creation are Cloe Hakakian and Todd Goodman. People who watched them create the mural would often stop and “thank them for immortalizing Mahsa Amini, who has become a symbol in the fight for women’s rights and freedom in Iran.” (Spectrum News 1)

3) “In South Los Angeles, liquor stores outnumber grocery stores.” St. Mark United Methodist Church at 8305 South Gramercy Place is trying to make a difference. We learned on Tuesday that Rev. Gary Williams has been spearheading an effort to put an end to the “uneven supply of healthy food.” Using the church’s garden, the congregation is now growing produce for themselves and families in need. (Civil Eats)

4) If you live in one of the hillside communities in Northeast Los Angeles — examples include Coldwater Canyon and Franklin Canyon — consider attending a virtual information session on Thursday at 6 p.m. L.A. City Planners will discuss “the proposed application of the hillside construction regulations.” (Planning 4 LA)

5) Grand Ave Arts: All Access is running on October 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grand Avenue creative spaces, such as MOCA and the L.A. Opera, will throw open their doors and welcome all visitors to “free workshops, performances, tours, and interactive events.” It's a great opportunity to explore the arts! (Grand Ave Arts)
