📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) The Metro Rail's Purple Line Extension project, which runs from “Western Avenue to the Westwood Veterans Affairs Hospital,” is on hold since Monday. Authorities paused the construction project for two weeks. According to Metro, “they have warned the project contractor . . . about unsafe conditions at the underground site, but they were unchanged.” There have been 32 reported worker injuries since July 2021. (Fox)

2) On October 4, a 26-year-old man walked away from a Los Angeles Male Community Reentry Program. On Monday afternoon, the FBI found him in Las Vegas. He only had one more year to serve. (Channel 5)

3) Los Angeles County will buy the old West Los Angeles Courthouse at 1633 Purdue Avenue. We learned on Tuesday that it would be “redeveloped for affordable housing.” The property has been for sale since June 2013, and most recently became a popular skateboard locale. (The Real Deal)

4) We’re getting a Dante, y’all! The home of the Garibaldi cocktail (in the bar that originated it in New York City’s Greenwich Village) is coming to the Maybourne Beverly Hills rooftop. The anticipated opening day is in spring 2023. (The Maybourne Beverly Hills)

5) Meanwhile, at the Beverly Grove, robbers used a stolen van to crash through the Chanel store’s front at 125 North Robertson Boulevard. They arrived right around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. However, they encountered an armed security guard and fled on foot. “It's the second time thieves used a van to ram into the store in a brazen smash-and-grab burglary.” (Patch)
