Rail service at Union Station was interrupted by a "suspicious package" on the LA Metro Red Line tracks.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Rail service at Union Station was interrupted by a suspicious package on the LA Metro Red Line tracks that turned out to be an electric scooter battery.
Union Station was shut down just after 2 p.m. Saturday when the "suspicious package" was observed, said LA Metro spokesman Rick Jager.
The area was evacuated and bus shuttles took Red and Purple line passengers to the Civic Center station and Gold Line passengers to Chinatown, Jager said.

The Los Angeles Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene, and the area was determined safe around 3:40 p.m., he said.
