- Regarding Her Food started Friday and will run through Sunday, March 13. It is a food festival that draws attention to women-owned eateries. Check out the restaurants that are participating with special offers and events. (Regarding Her Food)
- The LAFD assisted two women and a dog with a textbook urban search and rescue operation on Saturday. The trio “got stranded on a steep slope near Runyon Canyon Road.” With the help of a two-line rope system, everyone got to level ground safely. (CBS)
- We learned Friday that L.A. atheists are working to “keep our streets secular.” In response to religious groups that put up Christian slogans anywhere they please, they come, armed with an eight-foot-ladder, and remove them. The group calls themselves the Atheist Street Pirates, and you might have seen them at work on Echo Park and Bellevue Avenues. “Street pirates don’t mind paid billboards or signage on church property, since that’s within the separation of church and state.” (AP)
- We learned Saturday that Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez “introduced a motion to end the city's mandate requiring proof of vaccination to enter many indoor establishments and large outdoor events.” If the full City Council votes in favor, “the city attorney will be instructed to prepare a new ordinance and bring it back to the council for a final vote.” (City News Service)
- When the mounted platoon went for a training ride early Saturday morning, it ran into a curious group of preschoolers. The good-natured horse was curious, too, and had to stop. What a great surprise for the kids! (@lapdmetro)
