📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) On Friday, the Los Angeles City Council voted to address street takeovers. What does this mean? The LAPD will provide data on intersection takeovers in 30 days. Based on this data, the PD will make recommendations “and report on all street racing measures the city has implemented along with case studies of proven measures from other cities.” (KFI)
2) Traffic near LAX halted on Thursday just after 1 p.m. when a man threatened to jump from an overpass on Sepulveda and Century. He was the suspect in a pursuit that started in San Diego County. He was taken into custody at 2:40 p.m. (Fox)
3) On Friday at 5:16 a.m., the LA Sheriff's Department found a shooting victim at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and East 88th Street. The adult male was pronounced dead. If you have any information, please contact the LASD's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. (Nixle)
4) Boo at the Los Angeles Zoo is back! There are “trick-or-treat stations throughout the zoo” starting today, Saturday, and returning on Oct. 23, 29 and 30. Be sure to arrive between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for more seasonal activities. (LA Zoo)
5) The El Capitan is bringing back The Nightmare Before Christmas! Watch the movie in 4D and “view movie props on display from the Walt Disney Archives, including Jack’s House and Town Hall.” There will be great backdrops for taking pictures, too! (El Capitan)
