SoCal Warms Up; Flash Mob Thieves Hit Nordstrom: SoCal In Brief

Took a break from the news this weekend? Worry not: we've rounded up some of the stories you missed in SoCal on Saturday and Sunday.

LOS ANGELES — As the weekend wraps, we've rounded up some of the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into SoCal's other top stories: The weekend brought some isolated thunderstorms, hail, and high winds to parts of SoCal, forecasters expect a calmer and slightly warmer trend building through midweek.

The National Weather Service issued several special weather statements Sunday afternoon, warning of wind and pea-sized hail possible around Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and parts of San Diego County.

Around Los Angeles, forecasters see temps rising just a few degrees each day through Wednesday, while the inland deserts will heat up a bit more. A cooler turn is expected by late week.

"Warming will set in on Monday, and continue through midweek as high pressure builds near the Four Corners area, forcing the low offshore," NWS San Diego wrote Sunday. "It will be quite hot again inland through midweek, followed by cooling into next weekend as the trough offshore drifts back over the West Coast."

Catching up on other headlines from the weekend: Fire K9 teams from Los Angeles County are headed to Maui to help at the deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century. Cal Fire has scheduled memorial services for each of the firefighters killed in a helicopter collision in Cabazon.
