LOS ANGELES, CA — An entire generation of kids are about to find out just how fly their parents were in high school when this year's Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show performers take the stage in a major throwback to turn-of-the-millennium rap and hip-hop.

Slated to perform during this year's Halftime Show on Feb. 13 are music icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. Combined, the five artists have won 43 Grammys and created 22 No. 1 Billboard albums.

The 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show will mark the first time the five artists have performed on stage together.

The NFL, in collaboration with Pepsi and Roc Nation, dropped the trailer for the star-studded performance last month.

Directed by "Straight Outta Compton" filmmaker F. Gary Gray, the trailer features a musical compilation of iconic tracks like Eminem's "Rap God," Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode," Blige's "Family Affair," Lamar's "HUMBLE," and Snoop Dogg's "California Love." Sean Forbes and Warren (WaWa) Snipe—two rappers who are deaf— will perform sign-language interpretations of the headliner's music, The Detroit Free press reported.

Will this year's halftime show hold a candle to the favorites of years past?

It would be hard to beat Prince's 2007 halftime show performance, dubbed the best in history by Rolling Stone. In the middle of a Miami thunderstorm, Prince's performance "exceeded all expectations," according to the publication. NBC Sports also ranked Prince's performance as the best, noting the artist's "most perfect rendition of Purple Rain that included an epic guitar solo in the rain."

Behind Prince was Michael Jackson's performance in 1993, according to NBC Sports. Not only did the King of Pop become the first artist to perform live during the Super Bowl, but he also sang "We Are the World" with a children’s choir and made sure to moonwalk across the stage.

Also consistently ranked in the top three was Beyonce's performance in 2013, during which she took the stage with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a long-awaited Destiny's Child reunion. The trio performed some of their most memorable songs including "Bootylicious," "Single Ladies," and "Independent Women."
