  1. How much would you pay to have a seat at SoFi Stadium and watch the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI? If you were surfing Ticketmaster.com on Thursday evening, a ticket cost $5,288. If you don’t want to be in the nosebleed section, be prepared to spend $180,000. Then again, if you shop on ViaGoGo.com, a 100-level end zone ticket in row 14 costs $8,272. (Patch, ViaGoGo)
  2. Controller Ron Galperin released the city’s annual financial report for 2021 on January 27. It’s a mixed bag. Revenues went up by 5.2%. However, expenses went up by 4.8%. Galperin warned that next year’s budget could be in trouble because this year’s numbers rely on “$300 million from the federal government to create new programs to build equity and alleviate homelessness and “$70 million from the Police Department.” (L.A. Business Journal/paywall)
  3. A Palmdale teen was wounded Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m. when someone shot through a glass door of the apartment. First responders took the boy to Children’s Hospital in L.A. Detectives are currently undertaking the investigation. (Turn to 23)
  4. Who pays to clean up the city’s orphaned oil wells? Local politicians are eying “an initial allocation of $61.4 million to California through the bipartisan infrastructure law.” In the state, there are 5,000 wells that need remediation. That said, the county has about 1,400 wells that could be cleaned up with the funds. “Orphaned wells can leak hydrocarbons and methane, and remediation funding would allow the state to cut the wellheads off, fill the wells with cement and remove tanks, vessels, and pipelines.” We learned Monday that cleaning up an urban well costs around $500,000. 5. Rockstar Energy joined forces with L.A. TACO “to give five new street-legal food carts” to Shane’s Tamales, At Bev’s Tamales, La Masita Fina, Tamales Olmeca, and Poncho’s Tlayudas The team then asked L.A. artists Mel Depaz, Defer, Ezra One, Never Made, and Ernesto Yerena to handle the cart design. Visit them Thursday at Angel City Market! (L.A. Taco)
