Suspect In 'Brazen' Child Kidnapping, Sex Assault Case May Have Victimized Others: LAPD

Police are asking other possible victims to come forward following the LA man's arrest.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police on Monday circulated the photo of a man accused of sexually assaulting and kidnapping a girl as part of an effort to identify additional potential victims.

David Josue Lopes, 37 — also known as David Lopez — was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault in the Westlake district in connection to the kidnapping incident, which occurred in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Detectives believe there may be additional unidentified victims due to the brazen and serious nature of the assault," police said in a statement.

The investigation remains ongoing with LAPD Juvenile Division detectives working collaboratively with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office Sex Crime Unit.
