LOS ANGELES, CA — Customers of AT&T and Verizon had issues making and taking phone calls on Tuesday, according to both communications companies.

Users reported on DownDetector that the outages started at about 10 a.m. nationwide and were experienced in the great Los Angeles metropolitan area, covering Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Other parts of the country were hardest hit by the outages, according to Verizon. A notice from Verizon said the network was operating normally, but "some customers, primarily in the Northeast and Midwest, are experiencing issues when calling or texting with customers served by another carrier."
