Teenage Boy Killed In Boyle Heights Shooting

The shooting was believed to be gang related.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A teenage boy was killed Sunday evening in a Boyle Heights shooting.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at First and Pecan streets, next to the Hollywood (101) Freeway, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired found the 16- or 17-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Lopez told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the boy dead at the scene, the officer said.

Two male suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, Lopez said. The shooting was believed gang related.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 7:53 p.m. shutting down the First Street off-ramp from the southbound Hollywood Freeway for the crime scene investigation.
