  1. On Thursday, the City intends to fence in Little Tokyo’s Toriumi Plaza. Councilmember Kevin de León says the plaza belongs to the Transportation Department and will receive “hundreds of thousands of dollars of much-needed repairs” However, there is currently a homeless encampment, and some are hesitant to accept housing offers from the city. Activists are demonstrating. And some unhoused determine to set up their tents outside the fence on the sidewalk, which is not DOT-owned. (Spectrum New 1)
  2. The area near the Hansen Dam was the scene of a brush fire. It broke out Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. More than 120 LAFD personnel battled the blaze and were able to knock it down before it exceeded four acres. (CBS)

Organizers bill it as “one of the most consequential climate strikes in Los Angeles.” It takes place on the south lawn in front of City Hall at 12:30 p.m. “We're calling on the California teachers association to stand with us and vote against big oil,” organizers say.
