Vaccination Clinics Aim to Mitigate the Area’s High Number of COVID-19
Each attendee received free COVID-19 testing kits.
Two Community Resource Fairs & Vaccination Clinics took place at KIPP Promesa Prep in Boyle Heights this month to mitigate high rates of the disease in the area. The school is located at 1241 S. Soto Street, Los Angeles, CA 90023.
According to data from the FDA and L.A. County, because of its high COVID-19 rates, Boyle Heights continues to be a high-need area in need of vaccine accessibility. The fairs were meant to mitigate further spread of the disease. They were hosted at the beginning and end of March and provided an opportunity for local residents to receive their first and second vaccine doses at the same location. In addition, and to address the disparity in the cost of COVID-19, testing kits (as supplies last) for residents living in systemically underserved communities, fairgoers received up to 8 free COVID-19 testing kits per person.
KIPP SoCal will host similar fairs through June at other school sites in East Los Angeles, South Los Angeles and the Southeast Cities. More than 2,000 vaccines have already been provided.
