  1. If you’ve been hitting the grocery stores, you know there’s been a chicken wing shortage. On Wednesday, it was made official that “chicken wings are the latest victim of the ongoing supply chain problem, which is being compounded by a labor shortage.” Adding insult to injury, there’s also a Girl Scout cookie shortage in L.A. “Little Brownie Baker, the company that provides GSGLA with its cookies, says it's facing supply chain and labor shortage issues, which are affecting its ability to deliver all the cookies that have been ordered.” (CBS, Fox)
  2. Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles and Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr of Cincinnati have laid down a friendly wager on the outcome of the Super Bowl. According to Wednesday’s announcement, the stakes are “baked treats from LA’s famous Porto’s Bakery” and “a case of Graeter’s ice cream.” The wager doubles as a fundraiser for education, and both clergymen invite you to get involved! (Angelus)
  3. L.A. City Councilwoman Nithya Raman announced Wednesday that there are plans in the works for an ordinance that “would require all new construction buildings in Los Angeles to be zero-carbon.” Concurrently, the City intends to move to “100% renewable energy” by 2035. The City Council will also discuss improving older buildings with “mold, poor insulation and gas appliances.” (My News LA)
  4. R&R Med Spa, Nu-Me Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Center are involved in “a $20 million insurance fraud scheme involving Botox injections, laser hair removal and other procedures.” We learned Wednesday that the venues’ former owner admitted to participating in the scheme. She pleaded guilty “to one count each of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and subscribing to a false income tax return,” which may carry a 13-year prison sentence at her June hearing. (The San Diego Tribune)
  5. Starting this Friday, you can buy tickets to Abysmal Fest, which is a new music festival coming to the Shrine in July. The Drums is the brainpower behind this new event. Already, organizers are busy “curating the all-ages festival that includes acts such as indie rocker Alaska Reid, electro-pop artist Cowgirl Clue, rap-rocker Teezo Touchdown and Chinese-Japanese rapper Lil Mariko.” (Daily News)
