Woman Critically Injured In Los Angeles Apartment Fire

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman was critically injured Sunday evening in a fire inside a Hancock Park apartment unit.

The fire was reported at 10:24 p.m. Sunday in a first-floor unit at 632 N. Orange Drive, at Melrose Avenue, said the Los Angeles Fire Department's Margaret Stewart.

Flames were showing from the unit when firefighters arrived, Stewart said.

It took 44 firefighters 16 minutes to put out the flames, which they contained to the one unit, she said.

"During their primary search, firefighters located an elderly female patient inside the unit and are transporting in critical condition," Stewart said.

An arson investigator was summoned to the scene per protocol, she said.
