2022 Special Olympics Torch Run Will Go Through Seal Beach In June
The Seal Beach Police Department will help run the "Flame of Hope" from the Special Olympics through the city in June.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Seal Beach Police Department officers will guide the"Flame of Hope" through the city on June 10 to help raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics.
Police officers will carry the torch, dubbed the "Flame of Hope," through the city around 3 p.m. before handing it off to a neighboring agency, Lt. Nick Nicholas said.
Law enforcement officers across the United States have participated in the torch run annually since the 1980s.

Around 3,500 police officers in Southern California will help carry the "Flame of Hope" this year, Nicholas said. The torch in Southern California raised $1.54 million in 2019 for the Special Olympics.
"Law enforcement officials will carry the Flame of Hope through 11 counties and 150 Southern California communities," he said. "They’ll travel nearly 1,000 miles on streets and highways, through deserts and water and over mountains."
