Paddle-Out Memorial In Seal Beach Will Honor Surfrider Chair: Report
Surfers will gather at the mouth of the San Gabriel River this weekend and will paddle out into the ocean in honor of Tony Soriano.
SEAL BEACH, CA — Surfers will gather in Seal Beach will hold a paddle-out ceremony Saturday to honor a surfing and ocean conservation advocate who died in April, the Orange County Register Reported.
Tony Soriano served as chair of the Surfrider Foundation's Huntington Beach/Seal Beach chapter before dying from cancer at 74 on April 6. Soriano became a fierce environmental advocate more than 20 years ago after a chance encounter in Seal Beach with a cleanup event held by the Surfrider Foundation, the OC Register reported.
KC Fockler, the co-chair of the local chapter, told the Register Soriano was at the "environmental forefront" of every project in Orange County, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach.

Friends of Soriano will gather at the mouth of the San Gabriel River in Seal Beach Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, for a paddle-out ceremony honoring Soriano, according to the Register's report.
