Residents Urged To Shop Locally This Holiday Season In Los Alamitos

On Nov. 30, shop owners and cities across the country will join together to emphasize the importance of Small Business Saturday.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA —The Los Alamitos City Council and Mayor Jordan B. Nefulda encouraged residents to invest in their community by shopping locally this holiday season.

"We ask Los Alamitos residents to spread the word, visit your favorite coffee shop, dine atyour local restaurant, and support your hometown businesses," city officials said in a statement.

On Nov. 30, shop owners and cities across the country will join together to emphasize the importance of Small Business Saturday. Shopping locally helps boost the economy and helps create more jobs.

Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and has been sponsored by the Small Business Association since 2011. Last year, consumer spending at independent retailers and restaurants across the U.S. reached an estimated $17 billion, according to data from American Express.
