Several Orange County Piers Could Get Facelifts This Summer: Report

Leaders in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are planning to revitalize their respective cities' piers.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — With the summer tourist season quickly approaching, officials in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are eyeing plans to revitalize their piers, the Orange County Register reported.

Restaurants on the three piers have sat either derelict, in the case of Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, or, in the case of Seal Beach, destroyed in a fire.

Newport officials began tearing down the empty restaurant on its pier to kick off a revitalization effort, the Register reported.

A company that bought the lease to the former Ruby's Diner on the Huntington Beach pier plans to open a pop-up restaurant at the site this summer before establishing a permanent eater by the end of 2022, according to the Register's story.

Meanwhile, Seal Beach officials are actively looking into options for its pier, including the possibility of not replacing the Ruby's Diner that burned down in 2016.
