Jose Antonio Vargas at LAHS Sunday Afternoon

"Not Legal. Not Leaving."

Jose Antonio Vargas, Pulitzer Prize winner, undocumented immigrant, and one of Mountain View High School's most famous graduates, returns to Los Altos High School Sunday afternoon to speak about the future of immigration in a 90-minute session with Dick Henning, founder of the Celebrity Forum Speaker Series.

Vargas, already known to local students as the Mountain View High School student who won a Pulitzer Prize as part of the Washington Post team reporting on the Virginia Tech massacre. But he made headlines in 2011 when he publicly announced that he had discovered he was an undocumented immigrant when he was 16. His mother had sent him to live with his grandparents when he was 12.

He's the co-founder of the non-profit Define American, an organization seeking to expand the current debate on immigration. Vargas was the cover of Time Magazine, one of many in a youthful crowd looking directly at the camera, embodying one facet of the immigration debate.

Vargas will speak and answer questions at Los Altos High School's Eagle Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m.
