Los Altos DUI Arrests Nets 5 to Date in Summer Campaign

Day 10 of the national anti-drunken driving campaign brings the county's total to 215 arrests.

Los Altos Police reported four DUI arrests over the weekend, as a result of a strong focus on the national end-of-summer/Labor Day campaign against drunken driving.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, which coordinates the "Avoid the 13" drunk driving campaigns throughout the year, have reported 215 arrests from 15 law enforcement agencies in the county since the summer/Labor Day campaign began Aug. 17.

Combined with one DUI arrest from Aug. 20, Los Altos' cumulative total comprises five of those 215 arrests.

DUI checkpoints will be conducted on Saturday September 1, in the cities of San Jose and Milpitas. Extra DUI units called "saturation patrols will be deployed in  the cities of: Campbell, Milpitas, Los Altos, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Gilroy, Sunnyvale, Morgan Hill, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, and the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County.

Arrests made in Los Altos Hills, Cupertino and Saratoga are handled by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department, or the California Highway Patrol, and figures from those agencies are not broken down by city.
