• Former behavioral therapist gets 17-year sentence for sexually assaulting a girl with disabilities in Riverside (pressenterprise.com) — A 23-year-old Los Altos resident has been sentenced in Riverside County to 17 years in state prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl with disabilities during an in-home therapy session. The former behavioral therapist must also register as a sex offender, with long-term limits on where he can live and work after release.
   

• Talented Los Altos has early momentum to start season (losaltosonline.com) — Los Altos High’s girls basketball team has raced to a 6-1 start, powered by standout freshman guard Taylor Ware and a strong rebounding core. Coach Brittany Taylor and senior captain Ella McFarlane believe this deeper, faster squad can contend for the SCVAL De Anza title and a CCS berth after last year’s slow 3-9 opening.
