USO Salutes Our Heroes 5K Walk/Run

The USO Bay Area invites the community and members of the media to the USO Salutes Our Heroes 5K Walk/Run on June 29, 2013, at the Arena Green Park across the street from HP Pavilion in downtown San Jose.

Kick-off ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. with the U.S. Colors presented by The Scottish American Military Society, followed by opening remarks from Council Member Kansen Chu. The course of the walk/run goes along the scenic Guadalupe River Park and Gardens jogging trail. Additional activities will include a children's recreation area, live entertainment, refreshments, and an opportunity to meet troops who are stationed or living locally.

Proceeds from the event will sustain operations at the three USO centers in the Bay Area region: San Francisco International Airport, San Jose International Airport and Travis Air Force Base. In addition to operations at the three centers, the USO Bay Area extends its programs and support to military installations throughout the Northern California region.
