Independent Police Auditor Function Implemented In Los Gatos
Complaints against the police department can now be sent to the Town Clerk's office and will be reviewed by an independent investigator.
LOS GATOS, CA — Residents who file a complaint against the Los Gatos Police Department will now have that complaint reviewed by an independent investigator, thanks to the town's new Independent Police Auditor Function.
Complaint forms, which are available online, can now be submitted directly to the Town Clerk's office by email, by mail or in-person, according to the town website.
Each complaint will be facilitated by the town attorney and looked at by a "rotating panel of independent investigators," the town said on Twitter.

"The Town of Los Gatos takes all community complaints regarding the conduct of Police Officers seriously. Once a complaint is received, a thorough investigation will be done of all the information provided in your complaint," the town said on its website. "You will be contacted for additional information by either the Town Attorney or an Independent Investigator assigned to investigate the case. "
The police chief will continue to make all final decisions regarding disciplinary action, according to the town website, and both the complainant and the employee involved will receive written notification of the investigation's conclusion.
