Los Gatos 'Love For Luke' Benefits Lucile Packard Children's Hospital
Weekend event raises money to support pediatric cancer research.

Los Gatos youth Luke O’Moore, 9, diagnosed with leukemia in July 0f 2011, and brother Cian will be riding the ceremonial flag lap Aug. 3-4 to open the final round of competition at the NORCAL Love Series 2 BMX race, to be held at the Spreckels Park BMX track in Manteca.
The event will raise support for pediatric cancer research at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, where he's currently receiving treatment for his illness. The professional and amateur BMX race series is organized by Luke’s Lemons, a group of Luke’s family and supporters; James Traylor of Westside BMX and other members of the Northern California BMX racing community.
“This event is a wonderful example of how a community can come together around a great cause and show their love for one of their own,” says Fergal O’Moore, Luke’s father. “Luke and his brother are thrilled to be part of something that combines their love for the sport with an opportunity to raise money to help other children get better quicker.”
Last year, the inaugural NORCAL Love Series raised more than $10,000 for leukemia research led by Dr. Gary Dahl, at Packard Children’s. This year, their goal is to double that amount by raising $20,000 for Dahl’s research.
Registration for BMX riders of all levels will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and races will run 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
