Los Gatos' My Orchids Under New Ownership

New owner Christine Souza has official ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, Oct. 17.

Los Gatos' My Orchids, 22-B So. Santa Cruz Ave., celebrated its new ownership last Thursday afternoon Oct. 17 with a ribbon-cutting officiated by Los Gatos Mayor Barbara Spector.

The business, which hasn't changed names, is now owned by Christine Souza.

Its former owner was Anna Sung, who retired.

It sells beautiful high quality California grown Orchids, brought directly from the farm to Los Gatos for area "orchidholics." The shop also has gift items for sale.

Souza said she recently became an affiliate of fair trade retailer Ten Thousand Villages, in an effort to give back.

Souza is also the only proprietor and employee at the shop. She's lived in Los Gatos for more than 25 years and has a daughter and son in college, ages 19 and 21.

My Orchids is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Saturdays.
