Los Gatos Police on Lookout For Suspect

Cameron Coates, 32, of San Jose, is wanted for an outstanding warrant and felony evading.

Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police are on the lookout for a suspect who escaped an arrest last month after being stopped for excessive speeding and unsafe driving in town.

Cameron Coates, 32, of San Jose, was driving a tan 2002 Infinity 135 Sedan when law enforcement tried to stop him for unsafe turning movements and running through stop lights in the area of Carlton Avenue and Elester Drive at 10:39 p.m. June 24.

However, police say, Coates originally fled in his vehicle to the residential area of Saidel and Samaritan drives in San Jose, near the town's border.

After a short two-block pursuit, the suspect disappeared on foot leaving the vehicle abandoned, according to police.

"The suspect committed multiple vehicle code violations in an attempt to evade apprehension by the officer. The officer self-terminated the pursuit for safety reasons upon identification of the suspect," said LGMSPD Sgt. spokesman Clinton Tada.

Coates has an outstanding warrant for his arrest and is wanted in this incident for felony evading, Sgt. Tada said.

The abandoned vehicle didn't have any "wants" or records associated to any crime, Sgt. Tada added.
