Los Gatos Residents Could See Fees Adjusted As Council Discusses

Los Gatos hasn't adjusted its fees since the 2019-20 fiscal year, and discussions were postponed due to the pandemic.

LOS GATOS, CA — The Los Gatos Town Council will discuss adding or adjusting fees for certain town services at its meeting on Tuesday.

Proposed fees include a 2.4 percent credit card processing fee and several fees for development services. Those include requiring the installation of public artwork at new commercial developments that have a value equivalent to 1 percent of construction valuation, an increase to street improvement park in-lieu fees and new fees for Accessory Dwelling Unit applications.

Los Gatos hasn’t adjusted its fees since the 2019-20 fiscal year, and discussions were postponed due to the pandemic. The town’s financial policies require it to adjust fees depending on the actual cost for the town to provide services.

Staff advised the town to adjust fees per the increase in the town’s Consumer Price Index. Los Gatos’ CPI, a measurement of the cost of living, has increased 8.5 percent since 2019.
