1. Did Los Gatos' Housing Element suddenly fall out of compliance? Los Gatos, California (losgatan.com) — Los Gatos is facing an escalating legal fight over its Housing Element and several large “Builder’s Remedy” projects, including a 13‑story proposal on Capri Drive. A developer now claims the town’s entire state‑mandated housing plan may be invalid, accusing officials of using illegal tactics and extra environmental reviews to stall affordable housing. Town Council recently discussed the lawsuit in closed session but chose not to change course.
   

2. Notice of Preparation Submitted for New Mixed-Use Project at 15300 Los Gatos Boulevard (sfyimby.com) — A major mixed-use project is moving forward at 15300 Los Gatos Boulevard, kicking off its environmental review and proposing to replace the existing Ace Hardware with a 175-unit, seven-story housing and retail complex. Plans call for 20% affordable units, extensive resident amenities, three levels of underground parking, and a rooftop restaurant space, all within easy reach of downtown Los Gatos and Highway 17.
   

3. Tesla driver dies in fiery crash in Los Gatos Los Gatos, California (losgatan.com) — A driver was killed early this morning when a Tesla Model 3 left northbound Highway 17 near Lark Avenue in Los Gatos, went down an embankment and burst into flames after hitting a tree. California Highway Patrol investigators are still determining whether driver-assist features, alcohol, or drugs played a role, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released. Authorities say they’ll seek any available data from Tesla as part of the probe.
   

4. Smith Spotted Out of Sling (sanjosehockeynow.com) — San Jose Sharks rookie Will Smith, recently seen in a sling in Los Gatos, was spotted in the locker room without it, hinting at progress in his upper-body injury. He and Philipp Kurashev remain on injured reserve through the current homestand, while subtle locker-room stall changes have reporters speculating about which player might face a longer recovery.
